Place the hat stretcher into the brim of your hat of choice, rotate the inner linkage to separate the two wooden blocks, and expand it out a little bit over the span of a few days. When it’s ready, turn the knob the other way and gently remove it. The threading makes for quite a bit of movement with each rotation, minimizing hand strain. If this does not stretch the hat to your liking: Using teapot or pan with lid slightly ajar, boil clean water, then reduce heat to produce a steady flow of steam. Holding the hat stretcher handle, direct steam evenly to outside of the band area. Twist handle to stretch hat to desired size while applying steam.
